Ruby Cottle
Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, every year growing up Ruby would travel to her mother’s birthplace, New York, where they’d spend summers upstate. With an early interest in creative writing, her imagination ran wild in the mountains and forests far from her home.
At university, Ruby studied Art History before beginning a career in magazines, becoming Fashion & Beauty Director of Oyster Magazine. After a winding career path that focused on creative direction in digital media, content creation and branding - all the while navigating undiagnosed endometriosis that left her unable to work - Ruby followed her heart to New York. It was there, traveling upstate on the weekends, that she reconnected with her first love: writing.
Ruby engages her audience in the natural world through storytelling, with a focus on romance, fantasy and sci-fi. Alongside her debut novel, Black River, which will be published internationally in 2025, she is developing a TV series, The Watching.
She currently lives in Sydney with her husband and their two sons.
